Unlike everyone else featured in Meet The Collective, Gav Pauze didn't discover Pauzewear through a recommendation or a purchase. He created it.
Founder of Pauzewear and Pauzeradio, Gav has spent the last 31 years working in music. DJing has been one of the biggest parts of his life, but creativity has never been limited to music alone. Over the years he's built websites, taught himself web coding, learned graphic design, written articles, poetry and songs, and enjoys cooking. Curiosity has always driven him, and if something grabs his interest, he enjoys learning how it works.
Away from Pauzewear, Gav appreciates the quieter side of life. He's happiest walking through the park, sitting in an independent café with a coffee or spending time near the sea, a lake or anywhere with running water. When he's relaxing, documentaries are usually on the television, particularly anything exploring psychology, history or human behaviour.
One thing that's always remained important to Gav is helping other people. Whether it's offering advice on building a brand, helping someone with artwork or simply encouraging them to keep going, he genuinely enjoys seeing people progress. Success isn't something he believes should come at someone else's expense.
Although Pauzewear is now a huge part of his life, Gav still sees it as an ongoing journey rather than a finished destination. Watching the brand evolve has become one of the most rewarding parts of creating it. Every improvement, every new design and every member joining The Collective reminds him why he started in the first place.
Choosing a favourite design isn't easy because every piece has its own unique story. Right now, the Lion Ghillie Jamaica Edition is the one he enjoys wearing most. Mainly because of the summer feel the design has to it.
Of the designs Gav created himself, the Basscap Cassette T-Shirt means the most and turns heads in the street. Inspired by growing up around the rave scene of the early 1990s, it reflects the experiences that eventually led him into DJing. From Pascal's artwork, the Analogue in Midnight remains his personal favourite.
When asked what Pauzewear means to him, the answer comes instantly.
"It's my heartbeat. It's given me a new lease of life creatively."
Asked to describe the brand in his own words, Gav doesn't need many either.
"Old school values and morals. Modern day designs."
Those values stretch far beyond clothing. Gav misses a time when neighbours genuinely looked after one another without expecting anything in return. That same sense of community is something he hopes Pauzewear continues to encourage as it grows.
Although Pauzewear has already evolved significantly since launching in 2025, Gav believes there's always room to grow. New ideas, collaborations and collections are all part of the journey, but one thing won't change: his desire to keep building something authentic that continues to evolve alongside The Collective.
Before finishing, Gav has one final message for everyone who's become part of the journey.
"Thank you to everyone who's supported Pauzewear so far. Whether you've bought a piece, left a review, shared a photo or simply followed the journey, you've helped make this possible."
