Paniro Noir

Music has been part of Paniro Noir’s life for as long as he can remember. Based in Nottingham, the DJ and producer first found his way into making sound through a Casio keyboard and a drum set when he was young, long before DJing became a serious part of his life.

His DJing properly began during lockdown. Since then, it has grown into a major passion alongside producing his own music and continuing to develop his sound.

Paniro’s connection with Pauzewear also goes back further than the clothing itself. He had followed Gav Pauze and his journey for a long time before the brand existed, so seeing Pauzewear develop felt like a natural progression from the music world he already knew.

For Paniro, the connection between the two makes sense.

“It’s great to see the Gav expand into clothing and spread the message via sound as well as visually.”

His current Pauzewear collection includes the Black Lion Ghillie T-Shirt and the Original Junglist Mono T-Shirt, with the Colour version of Original Junglist already lined up as his next addition.

As a drum and bass DJ, the Original Junglist collection naturally stands out as his favourite. It connects directly with the culture he is part of, while the Lion Ghillie appeals to his love of reggae and the roots that sit alongside jungle and drum and bass.

That crossover between music, culture and clothing is a big part of what Pauzewear represents to him.

“Pauzewear represents authenticity, passion, community and the love for the reggae and jungle music culture.”

Those same ideas of music and community also shape the way Paniro looks back at the past. If he could bring one thing back, it would be the feeling of the raves from years ago, something he still talks about with friends.

The music, whistles, horns and lighters all played their part, but it was the mix of people that made those nights special. Different backgrounds and personalities all in the same place, brought together by the draw of the music and all enjoying themselves.

As Paniro puts it, “The melting pot of so many different people made it so unique.”

That love of music remains at the centre of his life today. DJing and producing are where much of his focus sits, with his DnB remix of Aaliyah’s “Let Me Know” currently available as a free download through Bandcamp and several more tracks already in the pipeline.

When describing Pauzewear to someone new, Paniro keeps things simple by saying: it's fresh, stylish and something that deserves a place in your wardrobe.

His ideas for future designs naturally come back to the music he loves. He would like to see more jungle and drum and bass inspired pieces added to the range, continuing the connection between the clothing and the culture behind it.

He also throws another idea into the mix: a Paniro Noir x Pauzewear exclusive one-off piece.

It may have been suggested with a smile, but it is one we are not completely ruling out.

With more music on the way and the Colour version of Original Junglist already next on his Pauzewear list, Paniro continues to represent the same combination of music, culture and community that first connected him with the brand.
